Celtic Christianity

This page includes links to both general Christian news sources as well as those covering the Anglican Communion specifically.  If you are looking for secular news sources, see my News page.

A) Anglican News

Find both official and unofficial news sources.  It's usually easier to find out what's "really" going on from the unofficial sources.

1) Unofficial Sources

These sources generally are put out by advocacy groups of some kind within the Church.  Although this news can be presented in an editorial fashion, it is often very current and gets behind the "official" church line.

a) Orthodox and Conservative Sources

TitusOneNine - Diocese of South Carolina Canon Theologian Kendall Harmon's blog is the best place to go for Anglican news and commentary.  This blog is well respected by conservatives and liberals alike.  It is the gold standard for Anglican blog.  Until May 2007, the blog was located here. There was a backup blog site for when the old site crashed due to heavy traffic, but I am not sure if it is still in use.
Stand Firm - Blog from orthodox Anglican organization "Stand Firm" which is located in the American South.
Drell's Descants - Blog from Louisiana attorney Brad Drell.
AAC/Blog - American Anglican Council's blog.
Connecticut Six Blog - Focusing on ECUSA problems, this blog is run by supporters of the six Connecticut Episcopal parishes that are under attack from their local ECUSA bishop.
Midwest Conservative Journal - Missouri based Christopher Johnson's blog best known for its hard hitting editorial commentary.
An Exercise in the Fundamentals of Orthodoxy - Australian Peter Ould's blog.  Ould is connected with Anglican Mainstream.
CANN Web Elf Report - frequently updated conservative collection of news stories on the Anglican Communion - has become more editorial of late.
David Virtue's Virtuosity - contains general news and religion links and new stories from David Virtue, an independent conservative and often controversial and provocative Anglican journalist.

The Kew Continuum - by Richard Kew, not current enough to qualify as a "news" blog but provides some excellent, thoughtful  background information critical to understanding what is happening in the Church today and what it bodes for the future.
BabyBlueOnline - blog from Mary Ailes of Truro Church in Virginia.
Confessions of a Carioca - Dan Martins' blog from the Diocese of San Joaquin.  Not usually a breaking news kind of blog, but often with wise, moderate postings.
Anglican Mainstream - news blog from British orthodox Anglican group Mainstream.
The Church of England Newspaper - is the evangelical newspaper from the Church of England.  Subscription is required to access news stories.

b) Neutral Sources

Articles of Faith - London Time's religion reporter Ruth Gledhill's blog often has excellent Anglican commentary.
Living Church - Independent news source covering the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion.

c) Liberal Sources

Unlike the conservative blogs, most liberal blogs have a heavily regulated comments policy and those who post different perspectives from the blog owners will often have their comments removed.

Episcope - Blog run by Episcopal News Service chief Jan Nunley spins news stories from liberal TEC perspective.
Thinking Anglicans - Well respected moderately liberal blog from England.  Provides more news links then commentary.
The Church Times - is the liberal voice for English Anglicans.
Anglicans Online - has a news portion to its site which generally tends to parrot the liberal party line.

In a Godward Direction - Tobias Haller tends to offer thoughtful analyses from a liberal perspective.
The Daily Episcopalian - Jim Naugton's blog from the very liberal Diocese of Washington.
Inclusive Church - blog from American gay activist group.
Telling Secrets - Blog from New Jersey extreme liberal priest Elizabeth Kaeton.  Primarily editorial commentary.
Father Jake Stops the World - Blog from extremely liberal perspective.  Primarily editorial commentary.
Inch at a time - Blog from Los Angeles area liberal extremist priest Susan Russell.  Primarily editorial commentary.

2) Official Sources

c) from the U.S.A.

There are two official news services from the American Episcopal Church.  The Episcopal News Service is the news service of the Episcopal Church.  The online version of the Episcopal Life national Episcopal newspaper contains only selected portions from the print edition.
