Research Fellows
Each year, GSLIS faculty appoint research fellows for two-year terms. Fellows are chosen because their work is relevant to the interests of GSLIS faculty and students, and each will give at least one lecture during their appointment. Current fellows (and their areas of research interest) are:
August 2006-August 2008
- Birger Hjørland, Research Professor at the Institute of Information Studies, Royal School of Library and Information Science in Denmark (knowledge organization)
- Maryann Martone, co-director of the National Center for Microscopy and Imaging Research and a Professor-in-Residence in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego (neuroinformatics)
- Lynne McKechnie, Professor in the Faculty of Information & Media Studies, University of Western Ontario (librarianship and literature for children and young adults)
August 2007–August 2009
- Richard Andrews, Professor in English, Department of Learning, Curriculum and Communication, Faculty of Culture and Pedagogy, Institute of Education, The University of London (e-learning, argumentation, and literacy development)
- Sayeed Choudhury, Associate Dean for Library Digital Programs and Hodson Director of the Digital Research and Curation Center, The Johns Hopkins University (digital libraries, data curation, digital preservation)
August 2008–August 2010
- Allison Druin, associate professor in CLIS, University of Maryland, College-Park (children's information access and use, digital libraries for children, user interface design, children's storytelling processes and tools)
- Bertram Ludäscher, associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and the Genome Center at the University of California, Davis (scientific data management, foundations of databases)
- Anna Maria Tammaro, Department of Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts at the University of Parma, Italy (internationalisation and quality assurance of higher education, digital libraries, electronic publishing, learning and libraries)
